Duo Raiya

The Duo Raiya was formed in 2024, following the meeting of Miguel Ferreira and Ángel Ripoll in George Vassilev’s guitar class. After an initial collaboration that led to several public performances, they quickly discovered a genuine artistic affinity and a shared musical sensibility.
Both originating from the Iberian Peninsula — Miguel from Portugal and Ángel from Spain — they share a common vision of music and a frienship bond that extends beyond the artistic realm. Their shared journey at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), together with the guidance they received throughout their studies, has naturally strengthened their connection.
Now completing their training and already holding several Master degrees, they are officially establishing the Duo Raiya. Their ambition is to introduce audiences to a diverse repertoire spanning different periods, traditions, and cultural horizons, brought to life through their musical cohesion and their strong sense of dialogue.

Ángel Ripoll is an active solo guitarist whose concert repertoire covers all styles and historical periods, with a particular focus on Spanish classical and flamenco music, spanning from the 16th century to the present day. Through his performances, he seeks to explore the richness and diversity of the Spanish guitar tradition, bringing together historical repertoire, lesser-known works, and contemporary musical expressions.
A particular focus of his artistic work is the guitar music of Murcia, his native region in Spain. Deeply committed to preserving and promoting this musical heritage, he explores its repertoire through research, performance, and recording, bringing renewed attention to works that remain largely unknown or have yet to be recorded. This commitment has led to the release of La Guitarra Murciana (Vol. 1), the first volume of a long-term recording project dedicated to documenting and showcasing the guitar repertoire of Murcia.
Through his solo performances, Ángel Ripoll aims to share the richness of Spanish musical traditions with audiences, combining historical awareness, artistic sensitivity, and a personal approach to interpretation.
